Dr Joseph Sgroi is a qualified private obstetrician, gynecologist and IVF fertility specialist in East Melbourne. Dr Joseph and his team provide holistic medical care to support women’s health and wellbeing during pregnancy, childbirth, fertility and women’s health.
I am an obstetrician, gynaecologist, IVF and infertility specialist at Epworth Freemasons, St Vincent’s Private, Frances Perry House and Melbourne IVF. I provide care to patients in the areas of obstetrics, gynaecology, IVF, male and female infertility.
My aim is to assist women and couples to become pregnant and as an obstetrician, provide the best care and support to them throughout pregnancy and childbirth.
As part of this commitment, I make myself available to attend births and emergencies every day and night.
I am a committee member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Council and the RANZCOG Women’s Health Policy Committee. This peak professional body aims to improve the health outcomes for women, couples, and their babies.
I look forward to meeting with you should you require advice on fertility or if you are already pregnant.

Dr Joseph Sgroi continually updates his knowledge and skills with evidence-based medical research in order to help improve the outcomes for his patients. He also continues to mentor future generations of doctors in his role as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Royal Women’s Hospital and the University of Melbourne. Compassionate and caring, his main priority is to support his patients on both an emotional and medical level.
The logo I co-designed represents me as an Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist. In my practice, I care for women prior to conception, during pregnancy, childbirth and in all areas of women’s health.
In 2013, I spent several weeks with my good friend, Lisa from Mammoth and Elefont, creating my logo affectionately called “The Dandelion”. There are several key elements of The Dandelion; each one representing an aspect of the care I provide.
As children, we all had much joy blowing on a dandelion and seeing the seeds floating away. In “The Dandelion”, these seeds represent new life aligned with my work in preconception and fertility.
The circle encapsulating The Dandelion represents a human egg. If you look closely, the woman’s head and hair represent the sperm that fertilises an egg. The body and stem of the dandelion are in the shape of a woman’s body.
This reflects my work in gynaecology and women’s health. In addition, the female form represents a womb where an embryo will implant and a baby develops. Being part of the process in helping create this logo was very rewarding and is a realisation of my passion for helping to care for my patients.
