Red Blood Cell Alloimmunisation occurs when a mother's immune system produces antibodies against her baby's red blood cells, potentially causing hemolytic disease of the newborn. This is most common in Rhesus negative mothers with Rhesus positive babies. Preventative anti-D injections are crucial.
