IVF Melbourne and Fertility Services

From his IVF clinic in Melbourne Dr Joseph Sgroi offers a range of fertility procedures to assist you in achieving pregnancy. Some of these include:

IVF

Depending on your fertility issue, there are several treatments available including ovulation induction or IUI (intra uterine insemination).

If you are concerned about fertility, Dr Joe will arrange all the necessary investigations for IVF Melbourne, so as to best optimise your health and fertility. These will include health history, sperm counts for males, blood tests, biopsies, ovarian reserve testing, imaging studies and laparoscopic evaluations.

Dr Joe will arrange all the necessary investigations so as to best optimise your fertility. Diagnosis and tests are conducted in his IVF clinic in Melbourne.

Ovulation induction

Some women have irregular periods, therefore being able to predict when ovulation occurs is often difficult. Fertility drugs can be administered to facilitate the recruitment of one follicle and hence the production of one egg. Transvaginal ultrasounds will be conducted to monitor the development of the follicle and the lining of the uterus and blood tests obtained to check hormone levels.

Dr Sgroi will advise you when to practice unprotected sex to maximise your fertility window.

Fertility preservation

Fertility preservation may be required for medical reasons as preserve fertility for the future.

  • Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation can impact a woman’s fertility.
  • Some women choose elective egg freezing to preserve fertility for the future. Many are now choosing to freeze their eggs at a young age to protect against the natural decline of ovarian function later in life.

As an obstetrician and gynaecologist in Melbourne Dr Joe can assist with any information regarding fertility treatment.

Donor eggs

Some couples are unable to conceive using their own eggs. There are many reasons for this, some of which include passing on a genetic condition, premature menopause, a serious illness has affected ovarian functions or IVF has indicated poor egg quality.

There are options available including using donor eggs. Finding a donor may include going overseas, Dr Sgroi has established relationships with clinics in Greece, South Africa and Spain and can assist you in finding and facilitating egg donors.

In Australia, there are egg donor programs and quite often sisters or friends can help create your family too.

Whether you are considering going overseas or staying in Australia, Dr Joe can discuss all the options and help you make the decision that works best for you.
