General Info

Many women feel nervous before their first visit to the obstetrician, gynaecologist, infertility and IVF specialist. It is quite normal to feel this way and we will do everything to make you comfortable and relaxed during your visit with us.

What happens during your first visit?

During your first visit, your blood pressure, height, and weight are obtained. You and Dr Sgroi will sit down together and discuss questions related to your general health, past history, family history, gynaecologic history, sexual health, and lifestyle. It is important to be honest with your doctor as it provides the doctor with valuable information needed to assess and properly treat you. We want you to feel free to ask your doctor any questions or voice any concerns you may have without reluctance or hesitation, as anything dealing with your health is of extreme importance.

Dr Sgroi will undertake any relevant examination or ultrasound and organise any relevant investigations.

At the conclusion of the consultation Dr Sgroi will provide you with a handout with what was discussed so that you are able to review this at a later point. Please write down any questions you have after the initial appointment so that Dr Sgroi can answer them for you when you next meet.

First Antenatal Visit

Dr Sgroi will ask you questions about your health, illnesses or medications you have previously had. In addition he will ask you questions about previous surgeries and pregnancies. He will discuss when your baby is due and any issues that may affect your pregnancy. He will arrange all the necessary blood tests, first trimester genetic screening and ultrasounds that are required throughout your pregnancy.
